Our mission statement at the Golden Horseshoe Hockey School is to develop each individual’s hockey skills while creating a fun environment for them to enjoy.

Each group will get 4 hours of ice time daily.

  • 90 mins of skills practice

  • 60 mins of power skating

  • 90 mins of scrimmage (3 on 3, and 5 on 5)

In addition to the on-ice sessions each day, there will be numerous off-ice activities like ball hockey, soccer, kickball, and various team building exercises for each student to enjoy.

Gatorade and hot lunches are provided daily thanks to our terrific sponsors Gatorade, Big Marco’s, Swiss Chalet, Commisso’s Fresh Foods, McDonald’s and The Pizza Company on Pelham rd.

Aside from our quality staff of professional coaches running the on ice sessions, there are at least 5 responsible counselors for each group at the camp who enjoy their time at the school just as much as the students do. Most counselors are graduates of the camp who demonstrate great passion and enthusiasm for the game and volunteer to assist in any way necessary — helping students get their equipment on, basic coaching duties, providing support and encouragement while handling attendance and supervision throughout the day.

We believe a major reason for our continued success in the Niagara region is due to the unbelievable staff of instructors, counselors, and volunteers comprised of parents, players, and passionate community members from around the area.  There are always familiar faces around the Golden Horseshoe Hockey School.

We take hockey very seriously at GHHS, but when students are not playing or skating, they are making friends and memories. A week long tournament is held based on points for wins, good behaviour and clean play from all of the activities.

Back at the Seymour Hannah Sportsplex in St. Catharines this year, we will be using the adjacent Kiwanis Field for all of our off-ice outdoor activities.  Hot lunches are provided daily through our sponsors, as well as Gatorade throughout the day.

Sponsors: We at the Golden Horseshoe Hockey School feel like if there is one thing that can help make a good program great, it is the sponsors, and we are proud to claim that we have some of the best in the area.

A continuous thank you is extended to Kim Dayaram and her brother Ryan Buckner for continuing the tradition their late father, John, started with the Golden Horseshoe Hockey School back in it’s formative years, hosting our registration, donating prizes to be given away at camp and providing all of our jerseys, hoodies, and anything else we need.

The D’intino family from Big Marco’s Restaurant have long been a proud sponsor and supporter of the hockey school and are always happy to help out in any way they can.

Loreto Vetrone and all of our Swiss Chalet family have been incredible supporters of the hockey school for the last 10 years and continue to be admirable leaders in the community.

Albert from The Pizza Company on Pelham Rd. is as amazing as the pizza he delivers, the Commisso family at Commisso’s Fresh Foods in Niagara Falls have recently joined the sponsorship team providing healthy and delicious Italian lunches loved by all at camp. Lastly, the entire Katz family at McDonald’s for their help with lunches and prizes now and in years past, we thank you for all that you do.

Sunday, August 4th — Registration will again be held at Buckner’s Source for Sports on Welland Ave. in St. Catharines. A great place to get skates sharpened, pick up tape / laces at the same time you pick up your jersey and hand in your waiver (if it has not already been submitted)

Please look over the schedule and come at the designated time. No need to worry if you are unable to attend registration, we can take requests for names and numbers on the back of your child’s jersey (each student can get any name / number they want) and then have it ready at the arena on the first day of camp. Please bring $10 cash for the jersey.

Weekend Games:

Everyone who attends the hockey school has a Championship Game on Saturday, August 10, which is always a lot of fun for the kids and a great opportunity for family to come watch and applaud the progress each child has made throughout the week. The game schedule will be included in the information package sent out in July.

We will do our best to accommodate any special requests but will not guarantee you will be able to play with a certain person. We reserve the right to move kids between groups if needed based on ability and at the request of the instructors. We aim to be the best program around and sometimes it is necessary to move kids in order to create equally talented groups for good competition0

We hope you enjoy the school, have fun, learn some valuable hockey skills, and make lasting memories with new and old friends.

Traveling from out of town? Many families from outside St. Catharines stay at the Four Points by Sheraton near Brock University in St. Catharines. Please check our accommodations tab if you would like to reserve a room at our group rate.

As a friendly reminder, we have an open door policy, you may come and go as you wish throughout the week and watch all or parts of your child’s day at camp, however we do ask that you avoid the lunch room and locker rooms as those can get very crowded. Any child over 10 will be asked to tie their own skates, once tied if they need to be tightened we will gladly help.
